There’s something I find incredibly nerve-racking about starting to write a new project.
I turn into the king of procrastination before the first word is typed.
Yes, I’ll plan the story, create a brief-ish outline, but I’ll delay starting the actual story for as long as I can.
Anything seems more attractive than starting.
Hanging out the washing.
Reading just one more chapter of the book I’m on with.
Why? Why do I come to this hurdle every time?
I’ve written more than 6 books, and every time I come to this fear.
For some reason, it’s hard to remind myself that if I just start, all will be well.
The fear of starting comes from the fear of not being able to finish.
But how will I diminish the fear of not being able to finish, if I allow the fear of starting to triumph?
(Another thing I like to do instead of starting is to moan about not starting on my blog.)
